As you make your way through the labyrinth of the base, you can't help but feel a little overwhelmed. The facility is huge and maze-like, with corridors and rooms stretching out in all directions. But you soldier on, determined to find your quarters and get settled in.
As you turn a corner, you nearly bump into Duke, the team's field commander. He's a tall, imposing figure with a stern expression, but he gives you a friendly nod as you pass.
[[Ask Duke where your quarters are|Duke]] You turn and yell to Duke, "Hey Duke! Where's my room at?" But as soon as the words leave your mouth, you realize your mistake. Duke's face turns red with anger, and he steps towards you, towering over you with his imposing figure. "I am your superior officer, and you will address me with the proper respect," he growls, his voice low and dangerous. You can feel the weight of his disappointment as he tears into you, and you can only hang your head in shame, realizing that you've made a crucial mistake.
[[Apologise]]
[[Run the other way]] As Duke's booming voice echoes in your ears, you quickly realize your mistake of not addressing him properly. Feeling a mixture of embarrassment and amusement, you muster up a lighthearted apology:
"Apologies, Duke! I guess I got caught up in the excitement of being a new recruit. Please accept my sincerest apologies for not addressing you with the proper level of respect. In my defense, your commanding presence is so intimidating that it momentarily rendered my ability to form coherent sentences. I promise to practice my salutes and 'sirs' diligently until they become second nature. No hard feelings, right? I'm here to learn and make you proud, oh mighty Duke!"
You finish your apology with a sheepish grin, hoping that your attempt at humor will lighten the mood and earn you some forgiveness from the legendary Duke. Deep down, you know that this misstep will be a memorable lesson in the importance of proper military protocol.
[[Salute]] Duke's stern expression softens into a slight smile, and a glint of amusement flickers in his eyes. He lets out a hearty chuckle and responds, "Well, $name., I suppose I can't fault you for trying to charm your way out of this one. Consider it a lesson learned, and remember that even the toughest soldiers slip up sometimes. Just make sure those slip-ups are reserved for humor and not on the battlefield.
Relieved that Duke has taken your apology in stride, you feel a sense of camaraderie growing between you. It seems that even the most formidable leaders have a sense of humor after all, and you're determined to make the best of this unique opportunity to serve alongside the legendary G.I. Joe team.
[[So about my quartes?]] "Alright, listen up, $name! To get to your quarters, you need to take the first left, then the second right, go down two flights of stairs, make a U-turn at the water cooler, hop over the obstacle course without getting caught by the laser beams, crawl through the ventilation shaft like a stealthy snake, high-five the third soldier you see wearing a red bandana, and recite the G.I. Joe oath backwards three times. After that, you'll find yourself in a room filled with cardboard cutouts of Cobra villains. Your quarters are hidden behind the cutout of the one with the monocle. Oh, and watch out for the booby-trapped bookshelf on your way there. Good luck, soldier!"
As Duke rattles off the bewildering directions, your head spins with the sheer complexity of the task at hand. You muster a nervous smile and mutter, "Right, got it, Duke. Piece of cake! I'll just... follow my instincts, I suppose.
With that, you embark on your quest to decipher Duke's labyrinthine directions, hoping to find your quarters. You also worry that Beach Head may get furious if you are late to the gym.
[[Contine down the hall|Hall]] As you continue your search, you run into Roadblock, the team's heavy weapons specialist. He's just coming out of the mess hall, a huge plate of food in his hand. He gives you a nod and a smile, and you can't help but feel a little envious of his meal.
[[Grab a bite to eat]]
[[Contine down the hall]] You chose to go to the mess hall and see Barbacue cooking lunch. As you walk in, you're hit with the aroma of sizzling meat and spices. You spot Barbacue standing over the grill, tending to the burgers with care.
"Hey there stranger" he greets you with a smile. "You hungry?"
You nod eagerly as you make your way to the counter, eager to see what he's made. Barbacue slides two piping hot burgers onto your plate, and you can see the flecks of red chili pepper in the meat.
"Careful, they're spicy," he warns with a grin.
You take a bite of the burger, and the heat hits you like a ton of bricks. But it's so delicious that you can't help but take another bite. Before you know it, you've finished both burgers, and you feel like your mouth is on fire.
As you start to feel the burn, you suddenly drop to the floor in pain. Barbacue rushes over to you, concerned.
"Are you okay little buddy?" he asks, helping you up.
You groan in agony, regretting your decision to eat two spicy burgers. Barbacue offers you a glass of milk, which you gratefully accept, feeling the heat slowly dissipate.
[["Thats all you got?" you say through your burning lips |more heat]]
[[That was great but I gotta run Thanks for the heat!|Contine down the hall]] As you continue down the labyrinthine corridors of the base, you can't help but feel a bit disoriented. The facility is like a maze, with hallways and rooms branching off in all directions. It's easy to get lost if you're not paying attention.
You try to keep your bearings as you search for your quarters, but it's not easy. The walls all look the same, and the layout seems to change every time you turn a corner.
You pass by several other team members along the way, including Flint, and Lady Jaye. They all give you friendly nods and greetings, but you're too preoccupied with finding your quarters to stop and chat.
[[Communications room|Head North]]
[[R&D|Head East]]
[[Lounge|Head South]] Despite the pain, you look at Barbacue with a gleam in your eye and say, "I could handle more heat."
He chuckles at your bravery and slides another burger onto your plate. This one is even spicier than the last, with flecks of habanero pepper clearly visible.
You take a bite and the heat is almost unbearable. Your eyes water and you start to sweat, but you refuse to give up. You take another bite, and then another, determined to prove your spice tolerance.
Barbacue looks on with amazement as you finish the third burger without flinching.
"You're a true spice warrior," he says with a grin.
Feeling triumphant, you head out of the mess hall, once around the corner you rush to find a medic as you know somethinf ain't right.
[[Find the medic|Lifeline]] You make your way to the medic's office somehow still feeling the burn in your stomach. When you arrive, you see Lifeline tending to a few other injured soldiers.
He looks up as you enter, and his eyes widen in surprise.
"You look like you've been through a battle," he remarks, taking in your sweaty face and flushed skin.
"I had some of Barbacue's spicy burgers," you admit, still feeling the heat in your insides.
Lifeline just shakes his head, but you can see a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Well, let's take a look at you," he says, leading you to an examination table.
He checks your vital signs and asks a few questions about your symptoms. After a thorough examination, he gives you some medication to help ease the burning sensation in your stomach.
"Drink plenty of water and avoid spicy food for a while," he advises, as he hands you the medication.
[[Thanks Lifeline, I better find Beach Head as he will not be ammused...|to the gym]] In a state of panic and discomfort from the aftermath of devouring three fiery spicy burgers, you race through the corridors of the G.I. Joe headquarters, desperately searching for Beach Head. Each step feels like a test of endurance as your stomach churns and protests against the onslaught of heat.
As you turn a corner, you nearly collide with Chuckles, who raises an eyebrow at your disheveled appearance and sweat-drenched brow. He takes in the distress on your face and the wafting scent of spicy burgers.
"Chuckles!" you blurt out, gasping for breath. "I need to find Beach Head right away! I can't be late for training, or he'll have my head!"
Chuckles's eyes widen in understanding, and a grin tugs at the corners of his lips. "Spicy burger overload, huh? I know just how Beach Head feels about tardiness, especially when it comes to training. Head down that hallway," he points in the direction, "and look for the sound of intense shouting. You'll find him there."
[[Get moving!]] As you reach the training area, you spot Beach Head, his imposing figure commanding attention, barking orders at other recruits. You take a deep breath, mentally brace yourself, and step forward to face the consequences of your spicy burger-induced delay.
Beach Head's piercing gaze locks onto you, and a low growl escapes his lips as you approach. His stern expression reveals his disappointment in your tardiness, and you brace yourself for the reprimand you know is coming.
"Change of plans for you," Beach Head gruffly declares, his voice laced with a mixture of annoyance and determination. He points towards another room, where the cacophony of crashes, thuds, and muffled screams can be heard. "Looks like you've earned yourself a special assignment, recruit. Head over there and show me what you're made of."
[[Follow orders]] Your heart sinks at the prospect of the unknown challenge that awaits you in that room. The sounds emanating from within hint at a training session that is far from ordinary. Your mind races with questions and apprehension, but you steel yourself and nod, determined to prove your worth and make amends for your late arrival.
With a mixture of anticipation and trepidation, you make your way towards the room, mentally preparing for whatever grueling test Beach Head has in store for you.
As you push open the door and step inside you notice a familiar figure in the corner - it's none other than Sgt. Slaughter...
You feel a rush of excitement and fear as you make your way towards him. He looks up at you and grins, motioning for you to come closer.
<img src="https://gijoeparts.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/sgt-1.jpg" style="width:50%; height:auto;">
Without warning, Sgt. Slaughter lunges towards you and begins to attack. You try to defend yourself, but his moves are too fast and too powerful. He tosses you around like a rag doll, but you keep getting back up and fighting.
After what feels like an eternity, Sgt. Slaughter finally stops and pats you on the back. "That was fun," he says with a chuckle. "You've got some potential, kid. Keep training and you'll be a force to be reckoned with."
You feel a sense of pride and accomplishment, despite the fact that you were just beaten to a pulp.
As you leave the gym, you feel inspired to continue training and improving. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll be able to hold your own against Sgt. Slaughter.
[[Tell him that you'll wipe your ass with that silly hat of his next time|round two]]
[[Back to Beach Head]] Feeling a mix of exhaustion and defeat from the intense challenge that pushed your limits, you crawl back to Beach Head's presence. He looks down at you with a stern expression, a combinatBack to Beach Headion of disappointment and impatience evident on his face.
"Get up, soldier!" he barks, his voice commanding your attention. "No time for slacking. We've got a mission briefing, and you better get there pronto!"
With a deep breath, you summon the last reserves of your energy and struggle to your feet.
Beach Head motions for you to follow him as he strides purposefully towards the briefing room. You scramble to keep up, your legs protesting with each step. The urgency in his voice tells you that this mission is important, and you cannot afford to let your earlier setbacks hinder your performance.
I assume you grabbed your keycard from your quarters?
[[Ummm… yes|Sure did!]]
[[Sure did!]]
[[Sure did!]] Feeling a surge of confidence and perhaps a bit of bravado, you look at Sgt. Slaughter and say, "Hey, next time I'll wipe my ass with that silly hat of yours." You can see the glint of amusement in his eyes as he responds, "I guess it's 'next time' now."
<img src="https://gijoeparts.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/sgt2.jpg" style="width:50%;">
Without warning, he charges towards you like a bull and unleashes a flurry of punches and kicks that leave you reeling. You try to defend yourself, but it feels like he's everywhere at once - landing blows from every angle.
Just when you think you can't take anymore, Sgt. Slaughter steps back and nods. "You've got heart, kid," he says. "But you need to work on your timing and footwork. And maybe show a little more respect."
Feeling humbled and a little battered, you nod in agreement.
[[Back to Beach Head]] You make your way to Mission Control and find General Hawk, Duke, and Flint in deep discussion about Cobra activity in the South Pacific. The room is bustling with activity, filled with many team members such as Bazooka, Cover Girl, Stalker, Grunt, and more. As you approach, they take notice and beckon you over.
"Listen up," General Hawk says, "we've got a situation in the South Pacific that needs to be dealt with immediately. We need a team to head out right away and shut down a Cobra operation before it gets any bigger. Beach Head, Tunnel Rat, Wetsuit and $name, you're up. Get ready and prepare for immediate deployment."
You quickly make their way out of the room, ready for whatever lies ahead. The rest of the team returns to their tasks, preparing for the next mission that may be just around the corner.

Lift Ticket, the Tomahawk's pilot, looks impatient as he yells at you and the other operatives to get your butts onboard. You head towards the chopper when you hear Tollbooth call out to you for help... You turn to see Tollbooth waving you over. "Hey, I need your help with something real quick," he says.
[[Help Tollbooth]]
[[Away we go]] You decide to head towards the W.H.A.L.E, a powerful aquatic vehicle that is perfectly suited for operations in the water. As you make your way through the vehicle bay, you can't help but admire the sheer size and power of the various G.I. Joe vehicles that are lined up around you.
As you approach the W.H.A.L.E, you see the rest of your team already onboard and ready for action. You quickly climb aboard and take your position, ready to take on whatever mission General Hawk has in store for you. [[Off we go!]] You nod and make your way over to him.
Tollbooth hands you a tool kit and points to a malfunctioning panel on the side of the Tomahawk. "I need you to help me fix this before we take off," he explains.
You quickly get to work, using the tools in the kit to tighten screws and rewire the panel. Tollbooth watches over your shoulder, offering guidance and instructions as needed.
Finally, the panel clicks into place and the lights on the Tomahawk's dashboard blink to life. Tollbooth claps you on the back. "Nice work, soldier. Now let's get you onboard before Lift Ticket blows a gasket."
You both jog over to the waiting Tomahawk and climb onboard, taking your seats as Lift Ticket starts up the engines. The helicopter shudders and lurches into the air, the familiar hum of the rotors filling your ears.

[[Continue|welcome]] As Duke's words echoed in your head, you knew you had messed up. Without another thought, you turned and ran as fast as you could in the opposite direction, hoping to escape his wrath. You could hear Duke shouting behind you, but you didn't dare look back.
As you rounded a corner, you ran straight into a door that you didn't even know was there. The door swung open and you stumbled inside, only to find yourself on the live fire test field. In front of you, you saw a row of targets and a sign that read "DO NOT ENTER WHILE TESTS ARE IN PROGRESS."
Suddenly lasers began to fire all around you.
You feel a sudden surge of heat and then... nothing.
You looked down at yourself and realised that you had been completely disintegrated by the laser test field. And as you faded into nothingness, you couldn't help but wonder: was it worth it to run away from Duke?
Well, at least you went out in a blaze of glory.
[[Let's try that again|Duke]]

You take a deep breath, mentally brace yourself, and step forward.
[[Follow orders]] You groggily open your eyes, the sound of metal clanging against metal and Beach Head's gruff voice jolting you awake. "Rise and shine, soldier!" he barks, pulling you to your feet. You look around, still disoriented from your nap in the food storage bay, and realize you're being dragged down the hall by the scruff of your uniform.
[[oh shit…]] Beach Head doesn't waste any time with pleasantries as he marches you down the corridor towards the briefing room. "You had a simple order to follow," he growls. "But what do I find? You passed out in the food storage, surrounded by empty wrappers and crumbs. Do you have any idea what's at stake here?"
[[…]] As Beach Head drags you down the hall, he can't help but mutter a long string of insults under his breath. "Ridiculous rookie, can't even follow simple orders," he grumbles. "Probably ate your weight in Twinkies before passing out like a baby. You're lucky we're not in the middle of a mission, or you'd be getting us all killed."
[[He continues…]] Rambling on, his insults becoming more exaggerated and comical by the second. "Might as well paint a target on your back and call it a day," he scoffs. "Can't believe they let you in the ranks. You're more of a liability than a help."
"Hey, Mr. Snack-a-lot, did you mistake the food storage for an all-you-can-eat buffet? I didn't know we recruited G.I. Joes with bottomless stomachs!"
[[and continues…]] "You're the only soldier I know who can fall asleep standing up. Maybe we should put you in charge of naptime strategies. I hear you're a real pro!"
"Did you swallow a squirrel before your nap? Because that's the only explanation for all those crumbs you left behind. We could track you by the trail of snack debris!"
"I bet Cobra could take over the world while you're still trying to figure out how to tie your shoelaces. They'd just stand back and watch you trip over your own incompetence!"
[[Beach Head, I’m so…]] You try to mumble an apology, but Beach Head cuts you off with a curt wave of his hand. "Save it for the briefing," he says, pushing you through the door and into the briefing room.
